Swimming capability of trilobite Hypodicranotus was verified through computational fluid dynamics simulations. The results of flow structure show that the form of exoskeleton is well streamlined with less flow detachment around the model. In addition, effaced exoskeleton reduced drag force under conditions of higher flow velocities, and long-pronged hypostome obtained positive modest lift force in wide range of flow velocities. Hence, we concluded that exoskeletal morphology of Hypodicranotus resulted from the adaptation to be a high-performance swimmer..
